History

RxCrossroads has evolved into a company excelling in integrated product support and manufacturer-centric distribution services. The company began in 1985 with the launch of the initial business unit, a third-party logistics (3PL) enterprise focused on the healthcare industry, distributing medical supplies and specialized surgical products to healthcare companies. This predecessor company of RxCrossroads, Marketing Distribution Intelligent (MDI), offered services to manufacturers including storage and distribution management of consigned biotechnology and pharmaceutical product inventory.

With this strong footprint in 3PL and a unique foresight into the healthcare environment, RxCrossroads' leadership team predicted the future outsourcing trend and the complexity of additional services the industry would come to demand. In the ensuing 25 years, the organization developed into a total outsourcing solution for the pharmaceutical industry with the addition of two major business units: pharmacy services and brand support services (BSS). The three divisions (3PL, BSS and Pharmacy) are fully integrated and provide the platform for deploying innovative solutions that overcome the challenges faced by our manufacturer clients. Together, these solutions improve the efficiency of product distribution, broaden access and drive sales uptake.

With this rapid, yet responsible growth and diversification of service offerings, in 2001 the company fine tuned its branding: RxCrossroads®, The Intersection of Total Service™. The new name more accurately depicts the current vision of integrated product support with an additional focus on high quality service to patients, providers, payers and manufacturers.

The impressive evolution of services and aggressive attainment of corporate capabilities caught the attention of major players in the healthcare industry. As a result, RxCrossroads was acquired by Omnicare, Inc., in August of 2005. This change in ownership provided RxCrossroads with the financial strength of a large, Fortune 500 corporation, while maintaining the flexibility of a smaller company. RxCrossroads is a part of Omnicare's newly designated Specialty Care Division, under the direction of EVP/President, Nitin Sahney, enabling us to innovate and customize brand-specific solutions to address client needs.

Today, RxCrossroads offers a comprehensive portfolio of services tailored to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, and is the only organization to provide independent, integrated product support solutions under one management team. Across the business units RxCrossroads has experience in many therapeutic categories, and this insight is employed every day to develop programs to support unique product needs. These therapeutic areas include oncology, nephrology, infectious disease, endocrinology, vaccines, diabetes, cardiology, hematology, dermatology, rheumatology, musculoskeletal, urology, immunology, gastroenterology and reproductive health. With headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky, RxCrossroads currently partners with more than 25 clients, and 330 employees spanning 4 locations.
